Welcome back to another Open Book Blog Hop!
Do you have a favourite site for free photos to use with your writing? Or do you use paid photos?
Remember to visit my fellow writers to see what they have created. You can find their work here!

When it comes to my stories, I don’t necessarily use an image with them. I have a clear image in my head of what things might look like, but this could easily be different for someone else. If I do use an image, it’s often only to highlight a mood or a setting, so I usually use sites like Pexels, where you can use images for free with attribution. If I need something I can use in a setting where I may make money, I create my own imagery or graphics in Canva, ensuring I have all the necessary rights to use them.
When I started blogging in the way-back-days, it was a “written rule” that posts should include images if you wanted to draw an audience.

Yeah, it’s considered SEO best practise.

Yes, you do have to have an image. Over on Substack, it won’t post without one. I LOVE historical sites for the article series I’m on because the images are almost always in the public domain.
