Welcome back to another Open Book Blog Hop!
Looking back at the COVID years, did that time impact your current writing?

I did find that the period of time, which seems so long ago, those isolated COVID years starting in 2020. Here in the UK, we underwent some strict restrictions that meant no working unless it was from home or deemed essential. No school. No gatherings or holidays. Life became remote, and it seemed like the whole world shut down. I actually remember how odd it seemed to see so few aircraft criss-crossing the sky.
So I wrote. If I’m being entirely honest, I actually started writing in 2019. I had an idea, and decided in November of that year to try and get some words down on paper every day of the month. This was achieved successfully and continued through 2020. Though I wouldn’t say that COVID directly affected what I was writing about, or the style of my writing, it affected it nonetheless.
With nowhere to go and nothing to do, it gave me a new well of spare time to play with. This led me to write more than ever. If I’m being entirely honest, if it wasn’t for those enforced lockdowns, I’m not entirely sure if Chasing Shadows would ever have been written.
As a fan of your work, the idea that it might never have been written is quite shocking.

Yeah, it’s interesting to reflect on it. It helps me remember, even when the motivation is low, I can still write.

Yes, I had much spare time during 2020/1 and wrote 4 books. The isolation didn’t bother me too much.

No, I weirdly found it quite comforting. It was the lowest my anxiety had been in a long time!

Yes, Sam worked upstairs, and I wrote at my desk downstairs. We went out for walks, and we got on quite well in our own little bubble.

I was in IT for a hospital at the time, and the stress that was placed on us trying to keep everyone connected (staff and patients) took its tool on me. Although I had more time to write, I had less of a creative spark.

isolation and time do wonders for me. It’s how it all began! I see your brain works similarly, needing to be occupied somehow someway.
