I try not to think this deeply when I’m writing. Not that I don’t think about what I’m writing, but I’m very much what’s known as a pantser – I don’t tend to have so much of a plan. An idea arrives in my mind, and I just roll with it. In many cases, I don’t actually know what it is I’m writing until the words appear on the page. It’s great fun as I discover what happens next as it arrives, more like reading than writing.
