Open Book Blog Hop – 30th June 2025

Welcome back to another Open Book Blog Hop!

You have been chosen to participate in a time travel adventure. You’ll end up in the same area as you are now. You get to choose between travelling 150 years in the past or 150 years in the future. Which do you pick?

Remember to visit my fellow writers to see what they have created. You can find their works here!

This week’s subject is a brilliant one. At first glance, I’d have said 150 years in the past, as I’ve always loved history. I live in a rural town with a farming history. I’d love to see how life was back then, with steam being the predominant power in the area. I’d find it quite interesting.

That said, the future has so much potential for fascinating advancements. I’d love to see what that might look like. That, and the fact that the area I live in is poised to become the home of the first Universal Studios theme park in the UK. As a theme park nut, I’d love to see how that evolves in a century and a half. Who knows, perhaps we could tempt Disney to build here, too!

Having lived in Florida, (within about 50 miles of Disneyworld and Universal ) I can tell you it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. Both parks are so expensive there are many people who can’t afford even a day trip to either park.

I’ll agree on that point – I’ve been quite a few times (at least 4 if not more) and each time it’s become exponentially more expensive. And yet, the magic still remains for me!

  2. 1875 would be a fascinating era anywhere there were people back then. But I’m not afraid of 2175 either. I think humans are incredibly adaptable and the future will have solved many of the problems we have today while creating all new problems of its own. Both visits would be fascinating…just not where I live because there were no people here in 1875. I already know what it’s like to sit in a desolate muskeg in 2025. I don’t really need to time travel for the experience. But the future…that’s the undiscovered territory.
