Welcome back to another Open Book Blog Hop!
Did you face any hiccups in your publishing this year? How did you navigate that?
Remember to visit my fellow writers to see what they have created. You can find their works here!

I haven’t (yet) had any specific issues with publishing this year, but rather with writing in general. I’ve discussed it previously, but for large parts of this year, I’ve really struggled with writer’s block. I believe one cause of this is the issues I’ve discussed having on Medium. I was writing a short piece every single day for little to no return. I was writing these short pieces at the detriment of my other projects. Now, I should say that I’m not writing for financial reward, as I certainly am not getting enough of that for it to be viable. But doing so much for so little sapped me.
So, how have I changed the situation? I’ve quit Medium. That took a lot of thinking about, as it was something that, for a period, I really enjoyed doing. But since I accepted the need to step away, it’s freed up my mental capacity to want to write again. I’ve had a slight blip lately, thanks to a spell of Covid after my recent holiday, but I’m largely recovered now, so I’m finding my drive coming back again.
Coincidence? I’m doing the same thing, for the same reason.

It’s just not a good use of my time writing something daily that is actually costing me money at this stage and not advancing any of my main WiPs.

Medium doesn’t seem to serve the needs of writers anymore.

No, it feels as if they don’t actually want writers on there
