June 2023

That’s June been and gone in the blink of an eye. My short beachside break is over, sadly, but still plenty of summer left hopefully! Let’s take a look back at what last month held for my creative endeavours.

The Crow’s Nest podcast
The rough plan is in place, guests contacted, so now I just need to get a recording schedule in place that works for everyone. I hope to make some movement in the next month, but we will see.

As the Crow Flies
I mentioned at the end of May that I was preparing for two weeks off work including a few nights down on the British coast. Well when I returned rested and refreshed I got stuck into  As the Crow Flies. So much so that since my last newsletter, I’ve added 18,785 words and reached the end of my first draft! The final word count sits at 73,270 words. I am thrilled with this outcome!

I’ve now made a start on the editing process. This is a task I enter with a lack of joy, but find myself growing into it with time, as it’s the first time I really start to see the book take shape. I am well into chapter five now, so only another twenty three to go!

As I make progress with book two, I would like to take the opportunity to ask any of you who have read Chasing Shadows to please consider leaving a review on Amazon or Goodreads. You’ve probably heard it all before, but reviews are really very important to self-published authors. The more we have, the more visibility we get on Amazon. The more visibility we get, the more chance we have of being noticed by new readers, so please do leave a review if you’ve read the book.

The Twelve Days of Christmas
Rather unsurprisingly, my amazing progress with As the Crow Flies has put the brakes on The Twelve Days of Christmas. I have been adding to it, but as it’s currently hand-written, a word count is hard to put a number to. That said, I hope to make more progress in the coming months now.

In other news…
I can announce that I have written the first paragraph of what will become the THIRD BOOK IN THE SERIES! Never in my wildest imagination did I think when I started out on Chasing Shadows that it might turn into a trilogy! I have the name for it, but to keep you coming back to these updates, I’ll sit on it while I let As the Crow Flies bask in the glory I think it deserves at this point!

And don’t forget, though most of these updates are found in my newsletter, you are missing out on my free sci-fi short story, plus advance news and the getting to know me section, so go on over to my newsletter page to sign up!
