Open Book Blog Hop – A time and a place

Welcome back to another Open Book Blog Hop!

Today’s topic is: If you could live in any place, any time, any world, where would you live?

And remember to visit my fellow writers to see what they have come up with. You can find their works here!

This one is really tough for me this week. Somewhere real? Somewhere fictional? Let’s start with the fictional options. A big shout for me would be the Discworld. So many incredible locations in a beautifully realised world. So many fascinating characters and amazing places to see. The Shire in Middle Earth would also be pretty awesome to see. Or anywhere steampunk, for obvious reasons. I’d love to see the wonderous and fantastical creations filling the world.

On to the real. I’ve been lucky to travel to some great locations worldwide, but as a history buff, I think my picks would have to be somewhere back in time. Two picks on my list would be visiting Viking territories or ancient Egypt. Two very different cultures and times, both equally fascinating to me. I think, though, the closest I’m likely to get to steampunk in the real world, my top pick would have to be Victorian London. A time of real change and technological advancement. I think it would be a fascinating time to be.

  1. There’s so many to choose from. I just skipped the fictional ones because…wow. Just too many. I picked times in history of great change as well. Those are fascinating times. What motivated the people? How’d they come up with the decisions that they eventually realized? Oh, to be a fly on the wall!
