Open Book Blog Hop – Hear Ye! Hear Ye!

Welcome back to another Open Book Blog Hop!

Today’s topic is: We’ve shared marketing tips that worked for us. What have you tried that didn’t work?

And remember to pay a visit to my fellow writers to see what they have come up with. You can find their works here!

This one might be shorter than most. Marketing is not my strong suit. I am not that way inclined. Not aided by the fact that I wrote my book to prove to myself it could be done. Not to make money. That said, I’ll never turn it down, and value every single sale.

But marketing has definitely not been a strong area for me. I’ve used social media a little to promote my book. That helped me early on to reach friends and family, and people within Facebook groups that I shared my posts within. Sadly, my launch fell during COVID so limited my access to events, signings and so on. I also didn’t know where to begin with regard to adverts on Facebook or Amazon. It’s something I fully intend to look at in more depth. I will also look to attend more events as the world returns to a degree of normal.

I would say that while some things have helped – a blog tour for one, other issues have hindered me including a lack of reviews. But this year, as I progress with my work on As the Crow Flies, I will work to turn that ship around. Maybe advertising won’t work. For all I know attending more events won’t make a significant difference either, but I will try.

      1. Yes, it will get you a mailing list of new readers who might buy your books, but after a while if you don’t have a new book to publish, sales will tail off a bit as your readers would have already read any book campaigns for your old books.
