Open Book Blog Hop – 15th December 2025

Welcome back to another Open Book Blog Hop!

Winter is coming to the northern part of the world. (It’s here!). Do you have any plans, or do you prefer to hide from the cold?

Remember to visit my fellow writers to see what they have created. You can find their works here!

I love the winter – it’s probably my most favourite time of the year. In the part of the UK where I live, snow is sadly very infrequent. Personally, that’s a real shame. I’m lucky enough to work primarily from home, as is my wife, so that makes a big snowstorm less troublesome. I’d love a whiteout blizzard if I’m honest.

But I’ll take a cold, crisp day with bright blue sky as far as the eye can see. I love getting bundled up in my coat, hat and gloves and taking a walk in frost-blanketed fields, breath pluming in the frigid air. Add in that winter in the Northern hemisphere coincides with Christmas, and it combines to make me a very happy boy.

Seeing Christmas decorations outside houses and businesses is wonderful, as is the atmosphere in town. Brass bands playing festive music, events, and Christmas lights all make for a season I eagerly anticipate every year. And as the sun sets nice and early, I love to settle in by the light of my Christmas tree, with a Christmas film or the Darts World Championship on the TV, with a Christmas murder book, nice and cosy.

  1. Yes, I love a cold, crisp morning too, but winter is not my favourite time of the year. Snow is okay, just as long as you haven’t got to go out to work in it at 7am, like I used to do. Not sure it’ll be a white Christmas around here though.
