Welcome back to another Open Book Blog Hop!
We’ve talked about our favourite words. Is there a word you despise? Is there one you refuse to use in your writing?
Remember to visit my fellow writers to see what they have created. You can find their works here!

An obvious pick would be a curse word or another. Unfortunately, I use those myself, so it wouldn’t be one of those. And they are pretty standard in everyday language now, so not writing them makes believable dialogue tough. Or there are classic words like “moist”. So many people despise this one. I’m not overly bothered by it.
The words I really hate, or phrases more accurately, are business BS – corporate buzzwords. Blue Sky Thinking. Synergise. Silos. Circle Back. Low Hanging Fruit. Uggh, I DESPISE these terms with a passion. They can truly go to live and die in my Room 101.
I also hate lazy use of words – combining multiple words into one, or getting well-known words wrong. Irregardless. “Be more pacific”. To, too and two. Their, there, and they’re. These are a real pet peeve for me. Hell, I get them wrong and it winds me up when I do it!
Gotta love management speak. Management described my job of taking ships up the Thames as a part of the “pilotage experience.”

Utter waffle, isn’t it?

My son makes me howl with laughter with all the latest management speak. What a load of twaddle! When my husband learned to ride a motorbike, his teacher always told him to ‘get into the pacific lane’. Sam wondered if he had to ride into the sea!

I have to ask – what is wrong with moist? I can’t figure it out.

oh, it winds me up, too! Autocorrect often gets me all mixed up when posting and I feel so embarrassed. 😆
