Open Book Blog Hop – 9th December 2024

Welcome back to another Open Book Blog Hop!

Today’s topic is: What’s the best line you’ve written recently? Or ever?

And remember to visit my fellow writers to see what they have come up with. You can find their works here!

This is a tough topic for me as I’m naturally predisposed to being a bit down on my own writing. But I will pick a line:

“Let him who is without sin among you, cast the first stone at her.”

Now, I will state this—I DID NOT WRITE THIS LINE. It’s a long-standing phrase, not of my own creation. BUT—I’ve picked this with what I feel is a very good reason. I’ve been in a real writing slump lately. I’ve not felt like I was in the right headspace to create. Given writing is something I enjoy, the minute it feels like a chore for me, I have to step away.

Recently, a new idea struck me taking my total number of in-progress projects to seven. This is one I’m quite excited about. It’s going to be a real challenge, and take me very much outside of my comfort zone. Between this and some conversations with good friends and fellow authors, I can feel my drive returning.

So for this reason, I’ve put forward the above line of writing. It isn’t my own, and it’s nothing amazing, but it’s given me my desire to write back.

I’m not too sure where it will lead, whether it will end as a short story, a novella or a novel, but I feel like I’ve got myself some ideas to work with now!
