Open Book Blog Hop – 9th September 2024

Welcome back to another Open Book Blog Hop!

Today’s topic is: How do you keep track of your cast of characters?

And remember to visit my fellow writers to see what they have come up with. You can find their works here!

In short, I don’t. Currently, I’m surprisingly disorganised. My core characters, Edison Crow, Selah and a handful of others are somewhat committed to memory. Though when that fails me, I resort to returning to my books in search of the answers I need to avoid plot holes.

My wife bought me a character journal last Christmas, that will allow me to document the characters that I most use, so I can easily remind myself of anything important – characteristics, physical features, traits, etc. I’ve been in something of a writing slump of late, but I can feel the drive to pick up then pen returning slowly. I may just start out with this lovely little book to help me wrestle my charges into something resembling order, ready to push onwards.

Afterall, I have a third novel in The Chronicle of the Crows series to get back to work on, plus plans for a short story collection in that same world. Plus, a few ideas for spinoffs using characters from some of these, maybe novellas or further short stories. Who knows?
