Welcome back to another Open Book Blog Hop!
Today’s topic is: Have you played with AI in your writing? Tell us what you think about it.
And remember to visit my fellow writers to see what they have come up with. You can find their works here!

This one is a bit of a controversial topic this week. AI has really exploded onto the scene in the last year or so, with some really divided opinions. I do see the issues, particularly with the imagery aspect. It utilises imagery and resources from the internet without permission or credit, making it a very grey area. I will say I have played around with MidJourney. It’s fascinating to see what it is capable of. That said, it’s not replacing the human touch yet. It’s pretty good at mimicary, but only to a point.
As for text, I’ve used Chat GPT a little bit. Not for writing a book, mind you. I’ve used it inspire me in coming up with content for my podcast. Again, the tech is pretty impressive if not a very grey area.
I think the negatives are going to keep coming as the prevelance of AI grows. I’m already aware of a children’s picture book created using AI images and text. There are also now a slew of poor ebooks on Amazon produced through AI. I don’t think AI will replace real artists and writers, but as things stand they certainly have the potential to be a real pain.
If we are not careful, we will end up in a nightmare world. One where everyone has forgotten how to be individual, all because machines have been allowed to control what we think, say and consume.

Some of those sci-fi films don’t seem quite so far fetched anymore…

I read about how magazines were inundated with AI-written stories in the weeks after ChatGPT went wide. I’ve yet to read about anyone finding success that way, though. @samanthabwriter from
