Open Book Blog Hop – Hitting the books

Welcome back to another Open Book Blog Hop!

Today’s topic is: What are your favourite resources for research?

And remember to visit my fellow writers to see what they have come up with. You can find their works here!

This one is going to be another short one I think. To put it simply, there isn’t one single source I use for research. The internet as a whole is an obvious starting point. And why not? With so many resources and opportunities to find information, it’s a must. I’ve also used maps, visited locations and read reference books to unearth the information I need. One thing I would add is reading fiction. I think I’d struggle to write for myself if not for the amount of fiction I read. It can give you ideas to support your creations, but it also exposes you to different methods and styles of writing and presenting ideas which will help enhance your own work.

My first attempt at a novel was based on Jack the Ripper. I got hold of maps from the time just to get the lay of London in the 1880s or so.
