Open Book Blog Hop – If I knew now…

Welcome back to another Open Book Blog Hop!

Today’s topic is: What is one thing that you wish you’d known about writing before you started?

And remember to visit my fellow writers to see what they have come up with. You can find their works here!

Writing has been a wonderful journey, one that I hope can continue for a while to come yet for me. I find creating stories to be incredibly relaxing. It’s a kind of catharsis. Letters forming words forming sentences, paragraphs, pages, and chapters. And at the end – a book. There is something special in holding the final result in your hands, knowing it came from a place within. It’s a kind of addiction, that’s for sure. I loved that feeling when I first held a copy of Chasing Shadows in my hands. And I know it will feel the same with each future book I might be lucky enough to create.

But writing is also a journey of immense learning. There is so much I didn’t know. About editing, formatting, designing and all that goes into putting a book out into the world. And then there’s the marketing. That’s something I am still struggling with now, but hopefully, I’ll get there in time. I’ve gained a lot of insight and knowledge, but I also know that there is a lot I don’t know.

But onto the question at hand – what do I wish I knew before I set out on the road of writing? Nothing. If I’m completely honest, I wouldn’t change anything in that regard. I’ve loved the path of learning and developing my skills and knowledge. It’s been a fantastic road to travel, and I look forward to seeing where it takes me next.
