Hello Again!

Hi all!

Yep, once again I’m sitting down to write a post to inform you all how rubbish I’ve been lately at updating my website here, and talking about what I’m working on. Lame excuse, but I moved jobs earlier in 2022 which has taken a fair bit of my mental capacity this year. As a result, I’ve not been as prolific as in previous years of writing on As the Crow Flies. I have added to it, but not as much as I maybe would have liked. Looking forward to 2023 I want to correct that a bit more. My goal here is to at the very least complete my first draft, if not be well on the way to a release.

I have been working on a handful of other projects this year. One is my podcast, The Crow’s Nest. Throughout the podcast, I chat with authors and people within the book and publishing world about their work, their passions and what makes them tick. It’s something I’ve really enjoyed learning about: how to record episodes, edit the audio, and turn that into an episode. I’ve also thoroughly enjoyed spending time chatting with my guests and learning more about them. It’s been a real passion project so I really would appreciate it so much if you could all take a bit of time to listen to it. Not just for my ego, but to hear what my brilliant guests have to say. To date, there is an intro episode and two conversation episodes already live. The third conversation episode is releasing on Friday 30th, so there’s still time for you to catch up.

In terms of writing, I’ve also been working on a collection of short stories. They all take place in the Chasing Shadows universe. So far there are two completed first drafts, and ideas are being worked on for a third. The festive short story I published on Christmas Eve, Christmas of The Forgotten will possibly also feature. I have a working title for the collection at the moment – Tales from Auridia. This is another little project I’d like to finish at the least to a first draft level, if not more so. If time permits, and I am very aware this might just be stretching things a bit, I also want to take a look at the batch of assorted flash fiction and short stories on this website. I would like to tinker with them, expand and rework them and ultimately produce an anthology of stories to release into the world as well.

So I’ve got a fair bit on my plate to look at this year. How much of it I achieve, only time will tell. But setting some loose goals may just help me get there. And to keep myself a bit more accountable for these targets, I plan to update the blog on a monthly basis. I’m also looking into maybe creating a newsletter to coincide with that. I’d love to hear your thoughts on that as a possibility, and if it would interest you. I would also love to hear your thoughts on the podcast if you do listen to it. It’s the feedback and support of listeners that will help keep it going!

But for now, all that’s left is for me to wish you all a very Happy New Year!
