It’s been a while. Things have been a bit all over lately. Work was really tough for me, robbing me of my drive and passion for writing. I just wasn’t feeling it. The creative juices had dried up and my desire to work on my writing was gone. This was particularly unpleasant scenario approaching the first anniversary of Chasing Shadows.

But things are on the up now. I started a new job in late March. A job that makes me happy, and has me engaged and positive again. And more importantly, it seems to have started clearing out the cobwebs. The last couple of weeks I’ve really kicked things up a gear and am adding to my first draft for As the Crow Flies. I have ideas, I know where the story needs to end – I just have no current idea how to coax the characters from where they are to where they need to be.

But fear not! This lack of insight or direction was a mainstay of the writing process with Chasing Shadows, and that turned out (sort of) okay! I also love the ideas I’ve got for a third book, so it looks quite likely that this will be a trilogy. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves, I need to get book two finished first.

Aside from that I’ve also started working with Fuzzy Flamingo again as a proofreader. I’ve had the pleasure recent;y of working through a fantastic mystery novel the last few weeks. It’s such a good read, and I will be excited to see this one published! I have also started work on an idea for a short story/flash fiction piece that ideas hit me for recently. It’s currently in the plotting stages – Me? Plotting? I know, right? – but I have a working title for it. Sands of Time. watch this space for more news on that as it progresses.
