Welcome back to another Open Book Blog Hop!
Today’s question is: does food play an important role in your writing? What is a favourite recipe of one of your characters, or yourself?
And remember to pay a visit to my fellow writers to see what they have come up with. You can find their works here!

Let’s take the first question. Does food play an important role in any of my writing? Given my love of food, surprisingly it doesn’t. The only time it really makes a showing is toward the tail end of Chasing Shadows, when some of the crew indulge themselves in the First Class section of a train. Even then, it’s only a side not to the actual story. Drink does tend to put in more of a showing mind you. Crow is partial to a glass of fine whiskey. I have absolutely no idea where he gets that from!
How about a favourite recipe of one of my characters or myself? This is also a no go I am affraid. Cooking just isn’t a factor in Chasing Shadows. As for myself? I am as far from a cook as it gets. Beans on toast is pushing my limits I’d say. As for favourite foods, well that’s a hell of a question. I have a real sweet tooth so that makes up a large amount of my top food list. Chocolate fudge cake and tiramisu are two real favourites. Then there’s cheese, mac and cheese, spaghetti bolognese…
Okay, I am getting peckish now, best I stop there!
I’m with you on the sweet treats, I think it’s time for coffee and choccie biscuits.

Beans on toast – I’m Canadian. I get it.
Not all books need food. But that dessert photo you posted – I wanted to lick my computer screen. I adore anything chocolate.

I love chocolate. I don’t eat it all that often anymore — goes right to my hips — but I do still engage in occasional treats and I LOVE them.
My husband claims beans on toast is a Texas thing. He used that as an example of what he doesn’t like about Texas cuisine. I’m thinking it’s the Americanized version of a burrito.

Baked beans on toast is very British. It’s a simple staple over here.
