In my steampunk series, there’s a location I am particularly fond of. It features right at the very end of Chasing Shadows, and more prominently in As the Crow Flies. It’s a growing, modern city called La Ville de Cuivre. It’s a city I fell in love with as I was writing about it. It’s entirely fictional, but somewhat based on New Orleans. There’s not necessarily anything about it that might be obvious to readers, but in my head, I imagined an 1800s version of New Orleans filled with wonderful and fantastical steampunk technology.
I’ve never been there, but I can entirely imagine the city filled with steam-powered contraptions in a wonderful 1800s setting.
As soon as I saw your Pexel picture I thought of New Orleans. We went there in 2017 for Mardi Gras. People would throw rows of beads down to us from those balconies.

I loved visiting New Orleans, many years ago. Bourbon Street is the perfect setting for a Steampunk adventure.

I’ve never made it to New Orleans. But then, I prefer going to less-populated areas.
