Hypothetical: Someone will pay to redecorate your living room. what would you like it to look like?

I’ve never been good with hypotheticals. My main issue is that I know what I like, and I like what I know. I’m not sure I’d do too well with someone paying me to decorate a room for me. I have pretty eclectic tastes, so my living room reflects the interests of my wife and I. It’s also where we keep a lot of things related to our hobbies. Books, video games, craft stuff, LEGO. We don’t curate it as such, but just build and evolve as we find things.
Nope, you can keep your money. I’d much rather make my own space my way.

I’m with you, there’s nothing worse than being in a space that’s so decorated it makes you feel like you can’t relax.

When we moved in it was new build so totally empty. We have geeky artwork and pieces because it’s us. We didn’t want showhome vibes.

Showcase doesn’t always mean practical. I prefer a space I can actually use!

It’s not even about practicality here, though with two cats it helps.
We’re all about what makes us happy. Our home is our space. If someone else comes in and thinks it’s not the expected, then that’s unfortunate. But we live here all the time, I want to relax here and enjoy my space.

I would assume though that you’d have some say in it as it’s your living room? If not, then you can always paint over it when they’re gone!

I have to say, I agree with you on the idea of someone coming in to my space, from the perspective of telling me what to do. I curated my collection, and like my stuff. As an introvert, it would be quite stressful! I still really wish for storage. lol
