Welcome back to another Open Book Blog Hop!
Today’s topic is: Your character is being faced with an evacuation from a natural disaster. What are they taking with them?
Remember to visit my fellow writers to see what they have created. You can find their works here!

This one is a tough one. I’m going to pick Edison Crow as the focus for this week’s topic. He is the character I know the best in my opinion. On the face of it, there should be something he covets more than anything. He’s a scoundrel and a thief at heart, with a history of relieving people of their possessions and wealth.
But there is a lot more to him than all of that. He is not a greedy thief. His crimes were always committed with the sole purpose of protecting and keeping his crew safe. He grew up on the streets, scraping by. His crew are his family. In the event he had to make a run for safety, and, incidentally, he did at the end of Chasing Shadows, there was one thing he did take with him. His crew. His family.
So true. I asked my characters what they thought and they all agreed. You save what can’t be replaced. Family is one of those things.

My character Jake Hennessey would have a different take on this question. His most prized possession is his car. 🙂 Everything else he can leave behind and has, on occasion.

People are what should matter most. I love when characters teach us this. However, I struggled to think what would be more interesting to answer: items or people. Yikes!!
