Welcome back to another Open Book Blog Hop!
Today’s topic is: How did you find the facts that inform your book?
Remember to visit my fellow writers to see what they have created. You can find their works here!

The bulk of my novel writing has been in steampunk settings. This makes research pretty interesting. Although steampunk is loosely set in the Victorian era, albeit a version that took a different technological path. This means that from a tech perspective, I have free reign over what I want to create.
That being said, I do feel everything I create should be born from a place of plausibility. So I spend a fair amount of time coming up with concepts and inventions, then researching if it might have been possible during the Victorian era. It doesn’t need to be completely era accurate, but if I can build from knowledge and discoveries of the time, then I can start to spin out from there and create things from a place of truth.
It’s great fun coming up with something, seeing what might have been possible, and then building onwards from that.
I love taking a scientific fact and seeing what I can turn it into.

Readers have to be able to believe what you have written. Otherwise, they will lose connection with your story.

A lot of stuff are more obvious like the airships. I had a few cool vehicles. The biggy was at the end of book two – a fully functional prosthetic arm powered by chemical reaction and steam.
