Today’s topic is: Does your favorite genre of Film correspond with the one genre you write in?

This one is a nice simple answer – no. If I were to expand on it, I suppose we are all to some extent influenced by the media we consume, so it’s not as simple as “no”, but I don’t exclusively watch steampunk movies. That said, working on The Twelve Days of Christmas, there are films I enjoy in the crime thriller genre.

But lets dive deeper. I love a good Disney film, which in no way informs my writing. But that’s not all I watch. I love comedy, action, sci-fi, horror, and don’t even start me on a cheesy Christmas film. So while I don’t necessarily ONLY watch films in the genre I write – I don’t watch any at all very much in steampunk – I do believe what I watch, read and listen to does have some level of influence on my writing.
