Happy New Year! Welcome back to another Open Book Blog Hop!
Today’s topic is: Do your books have to be read in any particular order?
And remember to visit my fellow writers to see what they have come up with. You can find their works here!

This week’s topic is going to be pretty short for me. With one book published and one more now set to release on the 3rd of February I don’t have a great deal to input on this subject. That said, the two books I do have must be read in order. As the Crow Flies, my up coming release is a direct continuation of events from the first book, Chasing Shadows. While some series are made up of stand alone stories with occasional references that point back to past instalments can be read in almost any order, very little in my own work will.
That said, I quite like that my other work in progress, The Twelve Days of Christmas, is stand alone. Something completely different in terms of story, setting and characters, it’s an interesting proposition for me to sink my teeth into.
Good luck with your launch in February. I usually prefer to read and write standalones.

I don’t think I totally planned on it being a series, but then storylines and events came to me that didn’t fit the narrative of the first.

All of my series started as stand-alone stories. It was the characters who demanded that I write more of their adventures.

That standalone turning into a series happens to many of us!

I plan on writing a series so in order for someone to know the characters its ideal that to read the first book.
