Welcome back to another Open Book Blog Hop!
Today’s topic is: Do you use beta readers? Have they been useful in improving your writing?
And remember to visit my fellow writers to see what they have come up with. You can find their works here!

This one is quite a timely topic for me. I’ve just finished my first round of edits for As the Crow Flies and am preparing to embark on the second. With Chasing Shadows, I sent it to a couple of people but didn’t really know enough then. I gained some feedback, but nothing detailed. This time out I think I need to be more meticulous. I need to ask my readers for what I want: glaring typos, plot holes, instances of names of people or places mysteriously changing.
I have put together a small list of people I trust to give me this feedback. They are a mix of authors and readers. Both in my own genre and beyond it. They’ve also all read Chasing Shadows, which I strongly believe will ensure consistency between books 1 and 2. I’m feeling good about the process this time, having learned so much from my first book.
Sometimes it can be surprising just what beta readers point out!

My beta readers are fantastic, I couldn’t do it without their help.

I’m hoping to get the same benefit myself!
