Welcome back to another Open Book Blog Hop!
Today’s topic is: What is your author origin story?
And remember to visit my fellow writers to see what they have come up with. You can find their works here!

I love the idea of an origin story. I’m a big fan of the Marvel superhero films, and a few of the DC ones too, so I do love a good origin story. But what about my own? Specifically in terms of my own writing.
Mine stretches back to childhood. That was when my love of reading began. It gave me a love of good stories, fantastic characters and expansive worlds. I read a wide range of books. My love for writing kickstarted at school, when we had classes dedicated to creative writing.
Fast forward to 2015, and I decided to set up my book review blog. This lead me to reading even more books, from a much wider range of authors. Eventually, this lead me to the realisation that critiquing the work of others was one thing, but actually writing something of my own was something else altogether.
From that point on, I started working on short stories, a failed effort on a novel, and what has now become the first two books in a series, with the third and a crime thriller in the works. All in all, a rather simple story, but it’s mine.
I also enjoyed creative writing lessons at my junior school. I’m not sure if kids do this at school now? Every Friday afternoon we were given two sheets of lined paper and given a topic to write about.

We had a class called Extended Story. We had an exercise book and the freedom to write anything we wanted. It was great!

We didn’t do a lot of creative writing in school. Lots of structured essays, but those helped give me the basis I needed when I was ready to write fiction.
