May 2023

Welcome along to this look back at my various projects in May.

The Crow’s Nest podcast
Things are proceeding nicely with my planning for season two of The Crow’s Nest podcast. It’s going in a different direction in terms of the format. I’ve started planning the core themes that will feature in the episodes and have begun reaching out to potential guests. A few more finishing touches and I hope to be ready to look at a recording schedule.

As the Crow Flies
Despite working across two novels at the same time, I’m continuing to make progress on As the Crow Flies. The word count now sits at 54,853 words. So that’s another 1,414 words added. Things are feeling good with this one. And with the previously mentioned fortnight off work to look forward to, I hope to add even more in the next month, assuming I don’t get sidetracked!

The Twelve Days of Christmas
The Twelve Days of Christmas is where I have really seen the progress this month. I’ve played around some more in MidJourney and am really getting some delightfully creepy outputs from it. I’ve got chapter one all typed up now and am thrilled to report an initial word count of 3,170. And chapter two is underway now, too.

But the really exciting news I have to share with you all is the little video below. It’s the reveal of the blurb for the book! Bear in mind this is a first pass, but I’d love to hear your thoughts on it! It does have audio, which I think you really need to hear with the video for a full sense of things to come. Enjoy!

In other news…
My third newsletter went out last month and can be found here. This month saw the first of my introductions to me, the person behind the writing. Please follow the link above to sign up and make sure you stay up to date with my news and updates before they appear on the website, and also get these insights that aren’t here on the site.

A small plea – if you’ve read and enjoyed Chasing Shadows or the sci-fi short story Coming Home, please consider leaving me a review on Amazon and Goodreads. Every review helps! I hope you’ve enjoyed the May update, and I look forward to bringing you more news next month!
